Privacy notice
This notice describes how the service works today. Have it reviewed before you rely on it as your legal privacy policy.
What we collect
For each tracked vehicle: its location, speed, direction, ignition state, battery voltage and the other readings the tracker reports, together with the times they were recorded. From these we work out trips, stops, addresses and driving events such as harsh braking or speeding.
For people who use Remote Asset Tracking: name, email address and the login details needed to sign in. For drivers using the driver app: clock on and off times with location, vehicle checks and their photos, and expenses with receipt photos.
If you contact us through the website: the details you give us in the form.
Who can see it
Each company sees only its own vehicles, drivers and data. Drivers using the driver app see only their own entries. Remote Asset Tracking staff can access company data to provide support and run the service.
Driver privacy
Tracking a vehicle means tracking the person driving it. Companies using Remote Asset Tracking are responsible for telling their drivers that vehicles are tracked, and for having a lawful reason to do so. Trips can be marked as private.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Data is stored on servers in the UK. Raw tracker transmissions are deleted after 30 days; positions, trips and events are kept while the company's account is active. Backups are kept for 60 days.
Services we use
Email is sent through Postmark. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, and addresses are looked up from coordinates using a geocoding service. Vehicle details and MOT and tax dates are looked up from the DVLA using the registration number. The enquiry form on our homepage is protected from spam by Google reCAPTCHA, which loads only once you start filling the form in; Google's privacy policy and terms apply to it.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms from misuse, including Google reCAPTCHA's on the enquiry form once you start using it. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. If you drive for a company that uses Remote Asset Tracking, contact that company first, because it controls its drivers' data. Otherwise, contact us through the form on our homepage.
